As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marks his second year in office, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has become a major reference point for the administration’s infrastructural progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, says the President’s commitment to completing inherited projects and initiating new ones has significantly transformed Abuja’s landscape.
On Thursday, Wike embarked on another round of inspection across key project sites including Wassa, the interchange at the Kubwa expressway (N20), and Daki-Biyu. He declared that many of the projects will be ready for inauguration as part of the President’s second-year anniversary celebrations.
“The CGC has completed 100 percent of the road from OSEX II to Wassa. The Kubwa interchange is almost ready, and Daki-Biyu is also on track. These are part of the projects Mr. President will inaugurate,” Wike told reporters during the inspection.
Wike, who is not a member of the ruling party, commended President Tinubu’s determination to make Abuja a model capital city.
“Abuja is now working. And who has made it to work? It is Mr. President. Even if you don’t like someone, if they’re doing well, you must say the truth. Mr. President has done very, very well unprecedentedly,” he said.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is no longer a slogan. Nigerians can now see that it is real, and we are proud to be part of this history-making administration.”
Residents at some of the inspected sites were seen chanting “4 plus 4,” an indication of their support for a second term for the President. When asked about this, Wike responded:
“I’m not a student of that chant. But they are saying Mr. President deserves another four years, and that’s their right as citizens. For us, we’re grateful to be part of this transformation.”
