Drama in Abuja as Wike’s FCTA Locks PDP Headquarters

Date:

Officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the directive of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, on Monday sealed the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja over unpaid ground rent.

The PDP’s secretariat, Wadata Plaza, located in Wuse Zone 5, was locked at exactly 2:06 pm by FCTA staff enforcing compliance with the FCT’s land use regulations.

The action comes as part of a sweeping enforcement drive by the FCTA targeting properties with outstanding ground rent payments spanning between 10 and 43 years.

This move follows the FCTA’s public notice issued on Sunday, announcing its decision to reclaim properties linked to 4,794 revoked land titles across the Federal Capital Territory due to prolonged default.

While FCTA officials did not immediately comment on the specific duration or amount owed by the PDP, the closure adds to a growing list of high-profile properties—including banks and federal institutions—shut down over non-compliance.

Related enforcement actions have seen Access Bank, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office, and a Total petrol station in Abuja sealed in recent days.

The PDP is yet to issue an official response as of the time of filing this report.
