Ogun Lawmaker Praises Tinubu for Upgrading Ilaro Polytechnic to University

Date:

The Chairman of the Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Industry, Trade, and Investment, Otunba Bisi Oyedele, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his decisive role in upgrading the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to a Federal University of Technology.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Oyedele, who represents the Ipokia/Idiroko State Constituency and is fondly called Citiside, described the President’s approval of the bill as a landmark development that aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda and promises to enhance educational equity and inclusive development in Nigeria.

“The approval marks a historic turning point for Ogun West and reflects President Tinubu’s foresight and dedication to equitable distribution of federal infrastructure and academic resources,” Oyedele said.

He added that the upgrade will open new opportunities for the youth in the region and position Ogun West as a hub for innovation and industrial growth.

Oyedele also commended Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, representing Ogun West, for his effective and visionary leadership, which he credited as instrumental in achieving this milestone. “Senator Adeola’s legislative commitment and persistent advocacy have begun to correct decades of neglect in just two years,” he said.

The lawmaker further acknowledged the contributions of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the National Assembly, and traditional rulers across Yewaland in supporting the initiative.

Oyedele congratulated the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Olu of Ilaro Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, and all monarchs and citizens of Ogun West, describing the upgrade as “a generational victory that will redefine the future of our people.”

This move by the federal government signals a renewed focus on educational advancement and regional development in Ogun State, fulfilling long-standing demands for better educational infrastructure in the area.
