Hamdiyyah Sharif, a vocal critic of Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, has been declared missing, sparking concern and calls for urgent investigation.
Her lawyer, Abba Hikima, made the announcement on Wednesday via his official Facebook page, revealing that Sharif has not been seen since 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
“Hamdiyyah has been missing since 10:00 a.m. yesterday. She left home to buy foodstuff in Sokoto and has not been seen since,” Hikima stated.
The Sokoto State Police Command has reportedly been notified of the development, but there has been no official statement from law enforcement as of the time of filing this report.
Sharif had recently come under public attention following her criticism of Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration. Her sudden disappearance has raised fears among civil rights groups and social media users, many of whom are demanding swift action from the authorities.
Further updates are expected as investigations unfold.
