The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested 30 suspected criminals during a late-night cleanup operation in Agege, as part of an ongoing effort to rid the state of criminal elements and restore public order.
The raid, which began around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, targeted notorious hotspots including Isale Oja, the railway line, and AP Junction—locations long associated with criminal activities.
According to a statement shared by Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor, the suspects are expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days.
“In continuation of the Lagos State Taskforce CleanUp enforcement operation to rid the State of criminal elements, the Agency set out at about 2200hrs on Tuesday, 20th May, 2025,” the post read. “The areas visited during the operation include Isale Oja, railway line, and AP junction in Agege where the presence of undesirable elements was noticed.”
Gawat added that the operation resulted in the restoration of “sanity” to the affected areas.
The cleanup is part of a broader security initiative by the Lagos State Government aimed at reducing crime and improving safety in high-risk zones. This latest enforcement action adds to a series of taskforce-led efforts to crack down on street-level crime and reclaim public spaces across the state.
