Flying Eagles captain Daniel Bameyi has been named in the CAF U-20 AFCON Best XI following an impressive campaign in Egypt.
The central defender led Nigeria’s U-20 team to a third-place finish at the tournament, playing a pivotal role in the Flying Eagles’ victory over the hosts, Egypt, in a dramatic penalty shootout.
Bameyi was also named Man of the Match in Nigeria’s 0-0 draw with Morocco in their second Group B game, where his solid defensive performance stood out.
This marks Bameyi’s second appearance at the U-20 AFCON, as he previously captained Nigeria to a third-place finish two years ago, also in Egypt.
The CAF U-20 AFCON Best XI saw heavy representation from champions South Africa, who had four players featured in the lineup.
