Hollywood Honors Funke Akindele as International Film Trailblazer

Nigerian actress, filmmaker, and box office sensation Funke Akindele has been featured in The Hollywood Reporter’s esteemed list of “The Most Influential Women in International Film,” earning her global recognition alongside 45 other visionary women from across the world.

Akindele, known for her hit films such as Omo Ghetto: The Saga and Battle on Buka Street, took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the honour. She described the inclusion as both humbling and motivating, calling it “a call to keep building, creating boldly, and lifting others as we rise.”

The recognition places Akindele among a select group of female leaders shaping the future of cinema beyond Hollywood, highlighting her significant impact on the Nigerian and African film industries.

In her post, Akindele also extended warm congratulations to fellow Nigerian honouree and media mogul, Mo Abudu, praising her as “a powerful source of inspiration” and celebrating her ongoing contributions to the creative industry.
