Tinubu’s Visit: Soludo’s Chief of Staff Dismisses Report of Planned Defection To APC

Date:

Chief Ernest Ezeajughi, the Chief of Staff to Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra has dismissed as rumour mongering reports that his Principal would soon join the All Progressives Congress ,APC,  shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited the state Thursday last week.

According to Chief Ezeajughi, those peddling the rumours may have been confused by the similarities in the positive ideologies of both the All Progressives Congress and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA,) which the president shared on his visit and vowed to work together with the Governor as Progressives for the benefit of the state and nation.

“This does not mean that the Governor will dump his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA” he said ,and cautioned that people should not overheat the polity through rumours.

There had  been feelers that during the visit of President Tinubu to the state last week,a secret pact was sealed which will make  Soludo dump his party for the APC after the  state gubernatorial election scheduled to hold later on November 8th, this year.

“I think I must be very categorical about it and let me make it clear that he is in APGA which is the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

“We have All Progressives Congress APC and both of them are Progressives but one is older while the other one APC is at the center.

“On that day of the visit Mr Governor urged Mr President to lead all the progressives.

“He is still in APGA and he is not going to APC and what matters is that they are all Progressives.

“So he still remains in APGA executing the Progressive agenda which Mr President shares the same ideology with the governor but that doesn’t transcend to his joining the APC

“Previously APGA has always supported the sitting President and the political party at the center and it happened under Mr Peter Obi when President Good luck Jonathan was in the saddle and it happened when Chief Willie Obiano was here and the then President Mohammadu Buhari was there as an APC President..

“And it would be the same again and that answers your question about defection to the APC .

“While those governors adopted the then Presidents the governors remained in APGA and that is the same thing and that policy has not changed.

“These stories and rumors do not hold water and normally people would always go to town to say Governor Charles Soludo is joining APC.

“However APC has a candidate and a running mate and are they saying that the candidate would be substituted with Governor Soludo and even after he had  won the election, what is he going to APC to do

“We know that the election would be smooth and peaceful and Soludo will win but we are not going to sleep about that because we shall knock on every door and the 326 electoral wards in Anambra state”, he said.

Furthermore, Ezeajughi said  that the visit of Mr. President testified to the fact that he was desirous to visit the state to see for himself the many developmental strides already accomplished  by Governor Soludo in just over three years.

“Mr Governor has taken bold  steps to transform the state in many ways ,-both  socio-economic development  and basic infrastructure.

“The transformation is coming from all pillars including signature projects .

“I thank Mr President for coming despite the pressures from all corners. Finally the eagle landed and that shows that Mr Governor is working and  a positive mind attracts like mind.

“The progressives are working together and Mr President has found a partnership that works in his alliance with Mr Governor,”‘ he  said.
