NAHCON Confirms Over 7,000 Pilgrims Airlifted to Saudi Arabia for 2025 Hajj

Date:

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has confirmed that 7,263 Nigerian pilgrims have so far been successfully transported to Madinah, Saudi Arabia, as the 2025 Hajj airlift operation gains momentum.

Since the exercise commenced on May 9, a total of 18 outbound flights have departed from six major embarkation points across the country, according to an update from NAHCON’s official website.

Leading the progress is Bauchi State, which has completed three Max Air-operated flights, airlifting 1,322 pilgrims — 1,003 males and 319 females. Kebbi State follows closely with three Flynas-operated flights conveying 1,283 pilgrims.

Osun and Oyo states have also recorded notable figures, with Osun transporting 846 pilgrims across two Flynas flights and Oyo moving 1,079 pilgrims via Max Air through the Lagos embarkation point. Niger and Nasarawa States have together accounted for 1,397 pilgrims on four flights operated by UMZA Air.

Kogi State, partnering with Air Peace, has flown 559 pilgrims to Madinah, while Ogun State has completed one Flynas flight with 428 pilgrims. In the South East, Imo and Abia States shared a joint Air Peace flight, with Imo contributing 232 pilgrims and Abia 8.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) also had a minimal presence, with five pilgrims included on a joint flight with Kebbi State.

Despite the progress, several northern states including Kano, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Borno have yet to commence airlifting. NAHCON’s phased deployment strategy means their flights are expected in the coming days.

Overall, four airlines — Flynas (6 flights), Max Air (5), UMZA Air (4), and Air Peace (3) — are handling the airlift from Bauchi, Abuja, Lagos, Minna, Owerri, and Kebbi. The gender breakdown of pilgrims so far shows 4,390 males and 2,873 females.

In a separate development, the Ondo State Muslim Welfare Board confirmed that its first batch of 316 pilgrims has departed for Saudi Arabia. The Board’s Chairman, Alhaji Dhikirulahi Chandy-Adam, announced the movement on Monday, with their details expected to be included in future updates.

NAHCON has praised state boards and service providers for the smooth execution so far and urged continued coordination and efficiency. The Commission reiterated its commitment to ensuring a seamless and dignified Hajj experience for all Nigerian pilgrims.
