Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has declared that the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, lacks the genuine capacity to broker peace in the state.
Wike made the remark during a media parley in Abuja on Monday while speaking about a recent meeting he had with Fubara, who visited him alongside two governors from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
While withholding full details of the discussion, Wike revealed that he told Fubara bluntly: “I don’t think you really have the capacity to make this peace.”
He questioned the sincerity of the governor’s peace efforts, pointing out that while Fubara calls for calm, his aides and allies are consistently on national television making provocative statements and attacking others.
According to Wike, true reconciliation cannot be achieved through a single meeting. He advised Fubara to reach out to other critical stakeholders, including members of the State Assembly, the APC, and other political actors, to ensure sustainable peace in the state.
