Tinubu Presents N1.78 Trillion FCT Budget to National Assembly for Approval

Date:

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented the 2025 budget of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to the National Assembly, totaling N1,783,823,708,309. The presentation, which took place on Tuesday, is in line with the constitutional provision that mandates the National Assembly to legislate on matters related to the FCT.

In a letter delivered by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, President Tinubu outlined the priorities of the budget, emphasizing the government’s focus on critical sectors such as health, job creation, social welfare, agricultural production, and capital development.

“85 percent of the capital component of the budget will be dedicated to completing ongoing projects, while the remaining 15 percent will be allocated to new projects,” the President noted in the letter, underscoring the government’s commitment to sustaining and advancing the infrastructural development in the nation’s capital.

The President called on lawmakers to prioritize the expeditious passage of the budget, urging them to collaborate for the timely approval of projects that would benefit the residents and businesses within the FCT.

In the letter, the President reiterated his administration’s resolve to bolster the development of the FCT, aiming to improve the quality of life for its residents and contribute to the overall progress of the nation.

The 2025 budget presentation is part of President Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to ensure that critical development areas, including healthcare and agriculture, receive adequate funding to enhance the nation’s long-term growth prospects.

With the National Assembly now tasked with the consideration and approval of the budget, stakeholders are hopeful that the swift passage of the budget will lead to meaningful progress and transformation in the FCT.
