Oyo Police Disburse ₦20.12bn to 7,076 Widows of Slain Officers

Date:

The Oyo State Police Command has disbursed a total of ₦20.12 billion to 7,076 widows of slain police officers, in what has been described as a landmark welfare initiative under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Commissioner of Police in Oyo, Johnson Adenola, made this announcement on Tuesday during the cheque presentation ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.

According to CP Adenola, the gesture reflects the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing commitment to the families of fallen heroes, aimed at offering financial support and reassurance in the wake of devastating loss.

“A total of twenty billion, one hundred and twenty-three million, four hundred and twenty thousand, six hundred and ninety-one naira, seventy kobo has been disbursed to 7,076 beneficiaries in the state,” he stated.

He extended condolences to the bereaved families, acknowledging the emotional and financial strain of losing loved ones in the line of duty, while assuring them that they are not forgotten by the nation or the Force.

“While no amount can fully compensate your loss, we stand in solidarity with you. These cheques are meant to provide some relief and support, especially during this trying moment,” he said.

The Commissioner also highlighted the recent introduction of the Nigeria Police Insurance Claim Management Portal, a digital platform initiated by the IGP to enhance the transparency and efficiency of insurance claims.

This innovation, according to Adenola, is streamlining the claims process, reducing delays, and ensuring that entitlements reach beneficiaries promptly.

“By harnessing technology, we are eliminating bottlenecks. Officers and beneficiaries should take full advantage of this platform,” he urged.

Adenola further reiterated the commitment of the IGP to clear all outstanding claims and ensure that no family of a deceased officer is left behind.

He thanked Egbetokun for his dedication to the welfare of serving personnel, retirees, and especially the dependents of fallen officers.
