Relief as Missing Babcock Student Found, Mother Confirms

Date:

Relief swept across social media and Babcock University on Sunday as Fijabi Oyindamola, mother of missing student Oladipupo Siwajuola, confirmed that her son has been found.

In a brief but emotional Facebook post made Sunday afternoon, Omotayo announced the news with the words, “My son has been found,” accompanied by celebratory dance emojis. The post comes days after she tearfully appealed to the public and school authorities for information regarding her son’s whereabouts.

Confirming the development, Babcock University’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Joshua Suleiman, told PUNCH correspondents that the institution was aware of the positive development. “Yes, we are aware,” Suleiman stated via WhatsApp, also verifying the authenticity of the Facebook post.

Siwajuola, a student of the private faith-based institution in Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State, was declared missing by his mother on April 27, 2025. In a viral video posted during the week, Omotayo could be seen in distress, demanding answers from the university and accusing the school of shielding two students—Lampard and Tobi—who were reportedly the last to see her son.

“It has been over 72 hours since I last spoke to my son,” she had cried out. “My family and I should not suffer due to your lack of accountability. My son is not a piece of furniture.”

While the news of Oladipupo’s recovery has sparked relief, questions remain about his disappearance, including where he had been and under what circumstances he was eventually found. As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by the university or law enforcement authorities regarding these details.

The incident adds to a growing list of missing student cases in Nigerian universities, raising concerns about student safety and institutional accountability.
