The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four individuals involved in the production and sale of counterfeit herbicides, following a successful raid on May 3, 2025. The operation, carried out by the Command’s Monitoring Unit, uncovered a large-scale illegal operation in Bauchi metropolis.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Wakil, the arrest was made based on credible intelligence about the mass production of fake herbicides. At around 1:30 p.m., detectives raided a residence in the Unguwan Liman area of Bauchi, where the suspects were found manufacturing the counterfeit chemicals.
The arrested individuals, including 21-year-old Usman Suleman from Karofin Madaki, 20-year-old Ahmad Musa from Wuntin Dada, and 17-year-old Muhammad Nuhu from Fadaman Mada, were apprehended while in the process of producing these harmful substances.
During the search, the police recovered a substantial amount of illicit materials, including 26 cartons labeled “Force Up,” an empty carton of “Gobora,” two plastic drums containing a suspicious liquid mixture, 100 empty one-liter containers of “Force Up,” and various tools used for packaging the fake products, such as sealing tapes, scissors, super glue, and a charcoal stove.
The police also identified and arrested a key suspect, 36-year-old Muhammad Muhammad of Fadaman Mada, who was implicated during the interrogation. Muhammad is believed to be a significant player in the illegal operation.
The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the counterfeit herbicide network operating in the state.
The Bauchi Police Command has vowed to continue its efforts to tackle illegal activities and safeguard public health and safety.
