Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has suspended the Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Caulson Oahimire, over allegations of serious financial and official misconduct.
This was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday in Benin City by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor. The statement indicated that the suspension takes immediate effect, pending the outcome of an investigation by a special committee to be constituted by the government.
“In view of allegations of grave financial and official infractions, the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate suspension of Dr. Caulson Osoikhia Oahimire,” the statement read.
It further directed that the most senior staff of the agency assume responsibility in an acting capacity to ensure the continuity of operations while investigations are ongoing.
The government’s move underscores its commitment to accountability and transparency in the management of public institutions, particularly in the health sector.
Dr. Oahimire’s suspension comes amid wider efforts by the Okpebholo administration to reposition the state’s healthcare system and clamp down on misconduct in public service.
