Nigeria marked a significant milestone in archery development as the Armed Forces hosted the inaugural Inter-Service Military Archery Tournament, featuring teams from the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The tournament was staged from April 24 to 27.
The event, supported by the Nigeria Archery Federation as the technical partner, showcased the growing partnership between the military and archery in Nigeria.
This collaboration began in 2018 with a beginner’s training course organised by NAF, which saw significant participation from the military.
Since then, various forces, including the police and paramilitary organisations, have joined in.
The 2025 Chief of Defense Staff Armed Forces Inter-Service Archery Competition saw the Nigerian Army team dominate, winning seven gold, five silver, and four bronze medals.
The Navy secured second place with one gold, five silver, and eight bronze medals, while the Air Force placed third with seven silver and six bronze medals.
Nigeria Archery Federation President, Mohammed Abdullahi, commended the Chief of Defence Staff and the military for their consistent support of archery and congratulated the medalists, urging them to remain dedicated to the sport.
