Tinubu Applauds Remo Stars for Historic NPFL Title Victory

Date:

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Remo Stars Football Club on winning the 2024–2025 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) title, describing the victory as a major milestone that has put Ikenne and Ogun State in the national spotlight.

In a statement released on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the players, coaching crew, and management for their “hard work, discipline, and unyielding spirit,” commending their determination in overcoming previous setbacks to claim the historic title.

“Their courage in pursuing success despite three previous near-misses in the race for the league title is admirable,” Tinubu said. “I hope their example will inspire other Nigerian clubs to pursue their dreams continuously with tenacity and optimism.”

The President also singled out Remo Stars owner and chairman, Mr. Kunle Soname, for special recognition, applauding his commitment to grassroots football development. Tinubu highlighted Soname’s role in building a state-of-the-art stadium in Ikenne, describing it as a critical investment that has boosted sports infrastructure in Nigeria.

With the NPFL title secured, Remo Stars will now represent Nigeria in the prestigious CAF Champions League. President Tinubu urged the team to maintain their “undaunting spirit and focus” as they prepare to compete on the continental stage, calling on Nigerians to rally behind the team as they fly the nation’s flag in Africa.

Remo Stars’ victory marks a historic moment not just for the club but also for Ogun State, as the team’s success cements its place among the elite of Nigerian football after years of perseverance and near-misses.
