Police In Minna Arrests Two For Murder, 15 Others For Varoius Crimes

Determined to bring crime and criminalities under control, Niger State Police Command said it has arrested the prime suspect for culpable homicide at Fadikpe area, western by-pass Minna the state capital.

This followed the dusk to dawn curfew imposed by the Niger state government restricting movement of commercial motorcyclists and Tricycles

The government had also declared that anyone with dreadlocks is to be suspected a criminal, arrested and the dreads shaved.

The new order followed the recent stabbing to death of Mohammed Amore who was murdered on the 20th April, 2025 at Angwan-Maiturare via, Fadikpe, where some vigilante operatives, with the deceased, had attempted to effect the arrest of miscreants smoking weed beside a river.A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Wasiu Abiodun said police operatives arrested 23 years old Abdurahman Nura from Katsina state, the prime suspect in the murder.

According to the statement, Nura resides in Fadikpe, and sells chocolate in Abdulkhadir Kure main market, Minna.

He told authorities that himself, Abdullahi and Buhari (who is at large) were smoking cannabis by the riverside in the late hours of the night when some vigilante members attempted to arrest them.

According to him, late Amore held him, and in a desperate bid to escape he stabbed the deceased with a shoemaker’s needle at the left upper side of the chest leading to his death.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Nura escaped and ran to Abuja, but with the cooperation of members of the community and relatives he was later traced and arrested.

The statement further revealed that the police, during a raid, also arrested 15 other suspects for various offences.

Items recovered during the raids mostly around Shango area, Chanchaga included dangerous weapons such as; cutlasses, sickle, scissors, Knife, clubs, cannabis and other related illicit drugs.

Meanwhile, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has clarified the dusk to dawn curfew imposed on commercial motorcyclists and tricycles operators, adding that the move is to safeguard lives and properties.

A statement by the Special Adviser (print media), to the Governor, Aisha Wakaso, said, “Safety of lives and properties of Nigerlites are far more valuable than the short term disruption of whatever economic activities.”
