PDP Resolving Contentious Issues Ahead Of 2027- Spokesman

Date:

National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Debo Ologunagba, has said that the party is resolving all contentious issues that would have hindered its progress in the 2027 elections.

Speaking on the condition of the party, Ologunagba noted that reconciliation is always a difficult thing because of vested interest.

He said: “This election is about the people now. The party has a process. We’re going through the process. There is a reconciliation committee and they are moving around the country.

“Like I said, reconciliation of interest is always a difficult thing because we have different people’s interests, the consideration, either based on their personal interest or based on their communal group interest or regional or cultural.

“So, these are all difficult considerations. But when it comes to a political party, a party has a mechanism to do that, to find out how to reconcile. It takes a process and that’s ongoing.

“We just concluded the Southwest Zonal Congress. You witnessed that. You saw how successful it was. It was seamless. Do we have differences in the South? Of course we do.

“But because the reconciliation committee of the party had visited, they’ve called all interest groups to try to reconcile and say, look, in politics, it’s a game of give and take. And that’s what we’re doing.

“The good thing about this is that the Southwest has always been a torch, a leader in political discourse and direction in this country. And we have seen that the PDP has shown the way.

“So, you can see that will be a compass for other zones to follow, to see that we can, even irrespective of our disagreements, we are not disagreeable.

“We saw the Lagos chapter was resolved easily, even with all the positions taking hard lines.

“But this is what good political parties do. And that’s what PDP is doing. And the example of what happened with the very successful and well attended Zonal Congress in the Southwest has shown the capacity of PDP to reconcile their differences.”
