2Baba Appointed Benue Governor’s Adviser on Entertainment, Community Outreach

Date:

In a significant move bridging the gap between governance and the creative industry, Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has appointed Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, as his Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach.

The appointment was formally announced during a courtesy visit by the multi-award-winning artist to the Governor’s office, as reported by News360 Nigeria. Governor Alia praised 2Baba for his consistent support and advocacy for development in Benue State, expressing strong confidence in his ability to contribute meaningfully in his new role.

“In addition to the good work you’ve been doing, we believe you can do even more,” Alia said. “On behalf of the government and the people of Benue State, we are pleased to appoint you as Technical Adviser to the Governor on Entertainment and Community Outreach.”

This development marks a notable collaboration between the state government and the entertainment industry, aiming to leverage 2Baba’s influence for youth engagement, cultural promotion, and grassroots outreach.

Meanwhile, in a separate event underscoring his ties to his roots, 2Baba formally introduced his fiancée, Honourable Natasha Osawaru, to traditional leaders of the Idoma Nation. The ceremony took place on April 21, 2025, during the Idoma Nation Peace and Unity Symposium at the Och’Idoma Palace in Otukpo.

Clad in traditional Idoma regalia, 2Baba presented Natasha—a serving lawmaker and former Deputy Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly—to His Royal Majesty, the Och’Idoma V, and other elders.

The couple also visited Okpokwu, 2Baba’s ancestral hometown, where they met with community elders and received blessings, further deepening the singer’s engagement with his cultural heritage and community.

2Baba’s new political role and cultural involvement highlight his evolving public image—not only as a global music icon but also as a statesman and community leader.
