Go Compete With My Children – MC Oluomo Defends ‘Kundusi’ Blunder

Date:

The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has responded to the wave of mockery trailing his viral mispronunciation of “kudos” as “kundusi,” declaring that though uneducated, he has successfully raised children who are citizens and residents of the United States and the United Kingdom.

In a now-viral video released on Tuesday, Akinsanya told NURTW delegates that while he may not be fluent in English, he has achieved what many of his critics have not — the proper education and global placement of his children.

“‘Kundusi!’ What happened? Grammar won’t finish Nigeria,” Akinsanya stated. “I might not understand the English language, but I understand Yoruba. I trained my children properly with money. They are citizens of America and the United Kingdom.”

The NURTW boss was addressing the backlash that followed a recent speech where he commended union members in the Federal Capital Territory but mistakenly said “kundusi” instead of “kudos.”

Unfazed by the criticism, Akinsanya highlighted his humble beginnings in the transport sector — from a bus conductor to his rise as national president of the union. He added that despite his limited formal education, his hard work has produced tangible results.

“If you and my children come out to express yourself, I’m not sure you can beat them, they are highly educated,” he said. “So they are mocking me for saying ‘kundusi,’ is my child not Qudus? You that you are educated, what did you do?”

Akinsanya’s children have a track record of defending their father online. In 2022, one of his sons, King West, responded to trolls who called his father a lout, saying, “Get a father like mine.”

Akinsanya concluded his message by encouraging people to focus less on grammar and more on impact, noting that education is not the only path to personal or generational success.
