The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the rescheduling of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to Thursday, April 24, 2025, instead of the initially planned date of Friday, April 25.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the Public Communication Advisor of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, explained that the adjustment was necessary to accommodate critical operational commitments by the Board and its partner agencies.
This year’s UTME marks a record-breaking milestone with over 2,030,627 candidates registered — the highest number in the Board’s history. Among them, 41,026 candidates are aged below 16.
As part of preparations for the exam, JAMB has directed all candidates to immediately print their Examination Notification Slips, which contain crucial information such as the exam date, venue, time, and other guidelines necessary for a successful examination experience.
“Candidates are encouraged to print their Notification Slips starting today, Saturday, April 19, 2025,” the statement read. “This will provide ample time for logistical arrangements to access their assigned centres within the chosen examination towns.”
To print the slip, candidates are to:

JAMB advised all candidates to familiarise themselves with their examination centres at least a day or two before the exam to ensure a smooth experience on the test day.
The board reiterated that candidates will not be posted outside their chosen examination towns, urging them to make adequate preparations to arrive at their centres early.
This announcement comes amid growing public attention on JAMB’s ability to manage the increasing number of applicants in Nigeria’s competitive tertiary education landscape.
