Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved the release of N872 million as counterpart funding to strengthen the state’s primary healthcare system.
The disclosure was made on Tuesday during a meeting of the State Task Force on Primary Healthcare and an award presentation ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Bauchi. The governor, represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare across urban and rural communities.
Jatau noted that N261.7 million of the approved funds had already been disbursed to the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Board. He emphasized that the fund would enhance infrastructure, support frontline health workers, and improve healthcare delivery to all citizens regardless of location or status.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to all health workers, facility managers, LG health teams, and community volunteers for their unwavering dedication. Your efforts are the backbone of our steady progress in healthcare delivery,” he said.
Jatau added that the awards presented during the event were symbolic of the government’s appreciation for the hard work of those improving healthcare outcomes in the state.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), the deputy governor said the government would ensure sustained investments in the health sector, especially focusing on women and children.
He also acknowledged the critical role of development partners, thanking them for their technical and financial support, which he said had helped to significantly strengthen Bauchi’s health system.
In his remarks, Emir of Dass and Co-Chair of the State Task Force, Usman Bilyaminu, lauded the administration for the milestones achieved in healthcare delivery and encouraged further collaboration towards building a healthier state.
