Dino Melaye Sparks Reactions With Video Tour of Lavish Mansion

Date:

Former Senator Dino Melaye has once again captured public attention after a video showcasing the opulent interior of his multi-million naira mansion went viral on social media, drawing widespread reactions from Nigerians across the political and social spectrum.

The video, which surfaced online on Friday, features Melaye—clad in casual wear—guiding viewers through his tastefully furnished home. The footage highlights luxurious decor, high-end furniture, and sophisticated accessories, offering a rare glimpse into the extravagant lifestyle of one of Nigeria’s most flamboyant politicians.

Melaye, who represented Kogi West Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, has remained a prominent figure in Nigerian politics. A member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he previously served in the House of Representatives before moving to the Senate in 2015. Although he briefly defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he returned to the PDP ahead of the 2019 elections following a bitter political clash with Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

During his senatorial tenure, Melaye chaired the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and at one point led the Committee on Aviation. He also played a key role as spokesperson for PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 elections.

While some social media users praised the former lawmaker’s taste and success, others criticized the display as tone-deaf amid Nigeria’s ongoing economic challenges. The video has reignited debates around political accountability and wealth accumulation among public officials.

As reactions continue to pour in, Melaye remains characteristically unfazed, further solidifying his brand as a bold and controversial figure in Nigeria’s political landscape.
