Delta State on Friday signed into law seven bills aimed at enhancing the social and economic development of the state.
Signing the legislation, the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, observed that the laws will contribute to driving and improving the power sector in the state, while also enabling businesses to thrive.
The bills are Delta State Physical and Regional Planning Bill, 2024, Delta State Film and Video Censor’s Board Bill, 2024, Delta State Electric Power Sector Bill, 2024, and the Registration and Regulation of Private Veterinary Clinics (Amendment) Law, 2024.Others are the Child Rights (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Delta State Pet Control and Responsible Ownership Bill, 2024, and Delta State College of Health Technology, Ovrodo, Bill, 2024.
Additionally, the Child Rights Bill is very important to this administration as it will address issues of child abuse and adoptive parents, among others.

Governor Oborevwori explained that “each bill was carefully crafted to address the challenges facing our people, especially the Electric Power Sector Bill and the Child Rights (Amendment) Bill.
Essentially, some of the bills assented to will also shore up our internally generated revenue. I am glad to say that I truly appreciate the synergy between the Legislature and the Executive arms of government as we continue to do more for our people.”
