Police seize Caicedo’s £160k Audi after caught driving without valid licence

Date:

Chelsea star Moises Caicedo has reportedly had his £160,000 Audi seized by police after he was found to have been driving without a valid licence.

According to The Sun, the 23-year-old was stopped by police in his Audi RSQ8 last Friday near the Blues training ground in Cobham, Surrey.

Surrey Police told the newspaper, “A man in his 20s from Cobham was stopped by officers on Fairmile Lane in Cobham on Friday 4 April and found to be driving without a licence.

“The vehicle was seized, and our enquiries are ongoing.”

Checks are now reportedly taking place as to whether Caicedo had valid insurance, while the midfielder is facing a court summons for driving illegally in the UK.

Caicedo’s agent Manuel Sierra Camacho told The Sun ‘There is no comment from us about this matter. I’m sorry’, while Chelsea said the case was a ‘personal matter’.

People with international driving licences can use them in Britain for 12 months.

They are then required to apply for a provisional UK driving licence and must pass the practical driving test.

Possible sanctions for driving without a valid licence can includes a fine, penalty points and a driving ban.

Caicedo, a 53-cap Ecuador international, first moved to England in 2021 when he signed for Brighton.

The midfielder joined Chelsea for £115 million in a British record transfer in August 2023 and has since made 84 appearances in all competitions for the Blues.

Caicedo travelled with his Chelsea team-mates to Poland on Wednesday ahead of the Blues Conference League match against Legia Warsaw on Thursday.
