Martínez, Frattesi Fire Inter Past Bayern in Quarter-Final First Leg

Date:

Inter Milan secured a vital 2–1 away victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash on Tuesday night, taking a step closer to the semi-finals.

Lautaro Martínez opened the scoring for the Italian side in the 38th minute, latching onto a precise assist from Marcus Thuram to give Inter a first-half lead at the Allianz Arena.

The hosts clawed their way back into the match in the 85th minute when Thomas Müller, fed by Konrad Laimer, brought Bayern level, sending the home fans into a frenzy.

But Inter responded swiftly. Just three minutes later, Davide Frattesi capitalised on a cross from Carlos Augusto to restore the lead, sealing the win in dramatic fashion.

Frattesi was booked in the 90th minute as tensions rose in the dying moments. Inter’s Nicola Zalewski, Lautaro Martínez, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan also received yellow cards, while Bayern’s Kim Min-jae was cautioned in the first half.

The result puts Inter in a commanding position ahead of the return leg in Milan, leaving Bayern Munich with a tough challenge if they are to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
