Arsenal Plot £200m Transfer Blitz for Gyokeres, Williams, Zubimendi

Date:

Arsenal are preparing for a stunning £200 million summer transfer spree as the North London club targets a triple swoop for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, and Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

The Gunners are keen to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season, with sporting director Andrea Berta leading efforts to secure the ambitious transfers while balancing the books through player sales.

According to reports, Arsenal’s top priority is bolstering their midfield, with Zubimendi considered the ideal replacement as both Jorginho and Thomas Partey are expected to leave on free transfers. The Spanish international is valued at around £50 million.

At the same time, Arsenal are eyeing a potent attacking duo in Gyokeres and Williams. Gyokeres, who has enjoyed a prolific season at Sporting Lisbon, has a release clause of approximately £83.6 million, while Williams’ is pegged at £49 million. Berta, a former Atletico Madrid chief, has already met with Williams’ agent, Felix Tainta, in an early move to test the waters.

However, funding the transfers will require Arsenal to part ways with several current players. Kieran Tierney is expected to leave, while offers will be entertained for Leandro Trossard and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Long-term injuries have delayed potential exits for Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Despite the club’s record revenue of £616.6 million in 2023–24, Arsenal recorded losses of £17.7 million in the same period, following a £52.1 million loss the previous year. As a result, the club must navigate the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules carefully.

Arsenal’s recruitment strategy may shift if negotiations over release clauses prove too complex. Alternatives like Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig and Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt have been considered for the striker role. Meanwhile, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak remains a high-profile option, but his valuation at over £100 million may force the Gunners to abandon their pursuit of Williams.

Club insiders say Berta is determined to make a major impact in his first transfer window at the Emirates and deliver the marquee signings manager Mikel Arteta needs to challenge for the Premier League title.

In addition to the midfield and forward reinforcements, Arsenal will also need a new second-choice goalkeeper, with on-loan Neto set to return to Bournemouth this summer.

The North London giants are expected to make key moves early in the window to avoid a late scramble and ensure a competitive squad is in place before the new campaign kicks off.
