*#Abuja2025: Customs Chief Charges Volleyball Team To First Lady Proud

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has urged the Customs women’s volleyball team to make Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, proud at the upcoming 2025 African Women’s Club Volleyball Championship.

Nigeria is set to host the prestigious tournament from April 1 to 14 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, with Customs VC representing the country on home soil.

Adeniyi acknowledged the First Lady’s unwavering support for women’s sports and her dedication to empowering the girl child, stating that her commitment serves as a major source of inspiration for the team.

“We deeply appreciate the First Lady for accepting to be the Grand Patron of this tournament and for being a pillar of sports in Nigeria,” Adeniyi said.

He also praised her contributions to other national teams, including D’Tigress and the Super Falcons, highlighting her role in advancing women’s sports to global recognition.

Adeniyi expressed confidence that the Customs volleyball team would put up a remarkable performance as a tribute to the First Lady’s efforts.

“I have followed what she has done for D’Tigress and the Super Falcons. If our team delivers an outstanding performance, we will be making her proud,” he stated.

He further emphasized her impact on young girls, particularly in the areas of education and talent development, adding that her initiatives have provided opportunities and hope for many.

The Customs boss stressed the team’s responsibility to rise to the occasion, ensuring that they leave a lasting impression at the tournament.

“I am looking forward to something big that we can present to her as a token of appreciation for all she has done for Nigerian women,” he said.

“With the backing of the First Lady and the aspirations of the entire nation, Customs VC is poised to make an unforgettable mark on the championship.”

Participating Teams in the African Women’s Volleyball Inter-Club Championship are Nigeria Custom service (NCS), Al Ahly Sporting club (AHL) of Egpyt, Zamalek Sporting Club (ZMK) of Egpyt, AS Douanes of Burundi (BUR), Sococim (SOC) of Senegal, Volleyball club La Grace (VGL) of Democratic Republic of Congo, VolleyballClub La LOI (VLL) of Democratic Republic of Congo.

Others are National Alcohol and Liquor Factory (NAL) of Ethiopia, Club Femini De Carthage (CFC) of Tunisia, Forces Armees Et Police (FAP) of Cameroon, Litto Team Volleyball (LTV) of Cameroon,Maya Kane Evolution (MKE) of Cameroon.

Also participating are Spiking Stars Volleyball (SSV) of Botswana, Club Omnisports Descartes of Cote D’Ivoire, Queen’s Volleyball Club (QVC)of Benin Republic, Rwanda Revenue Authority Volleyball Club (RRA) of Rwanda, Armee Patriotique Rwandaise Volleyball Club (APR) of  Rwanda.

Police Volleyball Club (PVC) of Rwanda, Kenya Prisons Volleyball Club (PRI) of Kenya, Kenya Commercial Bank Volleyball Club (KCB) of Kenya, Kenya Pipeline Company Volleyball Club (KPC) of Kenya, Muzinga Volleyball Club (MUZ) of Burundi, Gender Light Club (GLC) of Burundi and Nigeria Navy (NN) of Nigeria.
