Eid-el-Fitr: Tinubu, Shettima, Top Officials Observe Prayers in Abuja

Date:

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday joined Muslim faithful at the National Eid Prayer Ground along Airport Road in Abuja to observe the Eid-el-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Arriving shortly before 9 a.m., Tinubu was received by top government officials, religious leaders, and other dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

The prayers, led by prominent Islamic clerics, were attended by thousands of worshippers who gathered to celebrate the completion of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection for Muslims worldwide.

Following the prayers, Tinubu is set to host guests at the State House for a special Eid-el-Fitr lunch, marking his first time celebrating the festival in Abuja since assuming office. In previous years, he observed Eid at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos.

The President’s participation in the prayers and his planned reception underscore his administration’s commitment to fostering religious unity and national cohesion. Religious and political leaders at the event extended their goodwill messages, calling for peace, tolerance, and continued prayers for Nigeria’s progress.

Eid-el-Fitr, one of the most significant Islamic celebrations, is marked by prayers, feasting, and acts of charity, as Muslims express gratitude and seek blessings following a month of spiritual devotion.
