Nottingham Forest have emerged as surprise contenders in the race to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, according to reports from English daily, Football Insider.
However, the Premier League club faces stiff competition from European giants such as Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Osimhen, 26, is widely expected to leave Napoli this summer despite currently being on loan at Galatasaray.
The Super Eagles forward has been in sensational form, scoring 26 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions this season.
His release clause is set at £63m, and he is reportedly demanding wages of around £400,000 per week.
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is keen to compete with Europe’s elite for Osimhen’s signature, especially if the club qualifies for the UEFA Champions League.
However, financially, Forest may struggle to match the offers from more established European powerhouses.
With Chris Wood now 33 years old, Forest have prioritised signing a new striker in the summer.
While landing Osimhen would be a statement signing, the club’s chances remain slim given the high level of interest from bigger clubs.
Osimhen, is expected to move on from Napoli, but his next destination remains uncertain.
