The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences has moved to discipline a student, Nurse Osato Edobor over what it described as “posting official response to song during the arrival of the First Lady.”
Provost of the College, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne (Mrs), in a letter on the college letterhead asked Edobor to “explain in writing in triplicate copies within 24hours of receipt of this letter why disciplinary action should not be taken against you for this act.”The letter earlier accused the student of posting the said video on Edobor`s Tiktok page, adding that it is a punishable offence as enshrined in the Student Handbook under standardised disciplinary action for some punishable offences No. 8, Page 21.
In the now viral video, a copy of which was earlier reported by this medium, student nurses could be seen rebuffing the Master of Ceremony (MC) during a visit by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. While the MC made spirited efforts to draw the crowd into singing the First Lady`s praises, with the song meaning Remi Tinubu was their mother and they had no other mother, the students on the other hand returned in chorus that the First Lady was the MC`s mother and not theirs`.
The First Lady was reportedly in the state in continuation of her husband, President Bola Tinubu`s renewed hope agenda and the distribution of kits.
