FG Approves NYSC Mobilisation for Full-Time HND Graduates

Date:

The Federal Government has approved the mobilisation of full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), marking a significant policy shift.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced the decision on Thursday, confirming that only those who completed their HND on a full-time basis would be eligible. The government has instructed the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to expedite the collation of data for these graduates.

To facilitate the process, a circular has been sent to all Rectors of Polytechnics, directing them to upload the required graduate data onto a newly created HND admission portal. The move aims to streamline documentation and ensure a seamless mobilisation process.

Previously, many HND graduates, particularly those who pursued part-time programs, were excluded from NYSC due to their admission status. The situation worsened when the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) stopped regularising illegal admissions, making it difficult for part-time graduates to obtain the necessary documentation for service.

According to a statement from the Federal Ministry of Education, this development underscores the government’s commitment to equity, fairness, and inclusivity in the education system. The statement reiterated that only full-time HND graduates will be mobilised, while part-time graduates remain ineligible.

Dr. Alausa encouraged all eligible graduates to take advantage of this opportunity, reaffirming the government’s dedication to ensuring equal opportunities for all qualified Nigerian graduates.
