Napoli have reportedly made contact with Manchester United over a potential move for Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund, a deal that could open the door for Victor Osimhen to head in the opposite direction.
Hojlund, 22, has struggled to live up to expectations since joining United for £72 million last summer, scoring just eight goals in 39 appearances this season. The forward has reportedly fallen out of favor with new head coach Ruben Amorim and is among the players Sir Jim Ratcliffe has deemed “not good enough” for the club’s future.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are keen on signing Hojlund, with the striker understood to be open to a return to Italy. United, however, are seeking around £50 million for him.
A potential deal could have wider implications, as reports suggest United may target Osimhen as a replacement. The Nigerian forward, who was loaned to Galatasaray after being dropped from Napoli’s squad, is expected to leave Naples before the 2025-26 season.
Transfer expert Alex Crook told talkSPORT that Osimhen’s wage demands have dropped, making him a realistic option for United. With his proven track record—26 goals and five assists in 30 appearances this season—Osimhen could be a key addition to the club’s attacking lineup.
While no agreement has been finalized, the negotiations could lead to a major shakeup for both clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
