Manchester United have reportedly identified four potential striker targets as manager Ruben Amorim looks to bolster the squad’s attacking options ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have struggled for goals this season, with current forwards Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee managing a combined total of just 14 goals across all competitions. Club captain Bruno Fernandes remains United’s top scorer, with 16 goals in 44 appearances.
According to reports from Sky Germany, Amorim has set his sights on Sporting Lisbon’s Victor Gyökeres, a player he previously managed. The Swedish international has been in sensational form, scoring 40 goals in all competitions this season.
Also on the shortlist are Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, who have netted 19 and 17 goals respectively this campaign. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, rounds out the list after scoring 26 goals in Turkey.
Amorim had initially hoped to secure a new striker in the January transfer window, but financial constraints and Premier League sustainability rules prevented the club from making a big-money signing.
With United’s plans for a new stadium putting them under financial pressure for the next five years, the club may face difficulties in securing any of these high-profile targets. However, Amorim remains keen to strengthen his squad as United look to improve on their underwhelming attacking output next season.
