Nigeria Archery Federation Holds AGM, Passes Vote of Confidence on Abdullahi

Date:

The Nigeria Archery Federation held its Annual General Meeting at the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa headquarters in Abuja, where key stakeholders reviewed the sport’s progress and outlined future initiatives.

A significant outcome of the meeting was a vote of confidence passed on the Federation’s President, Mohammed Baba Abdullahi, recognising his leadership in advancing Archery in Nigeria.

The Federation also announced the appointment of six prominent Nigerians as Patrons, reaffirming its commitment to expanding the sport’s reach nationwide.

The newly appointed Patrons include are Senator Babajide Omoworare, Major General G.S. Abdullahi, DIG Dr. Aisha A. Baju, Professor Musa Success, Dr. Obi Asika and Chief Librous Oshomo.

In his address, Abdullahi acknowledged the political interference and internal disputes that had challenged the Federation over the past year but called on all stakeholders to set aside differences and work towards the development of Archery in Nigeria.

Among the major announcements at the AGM was the upcoming Chief of Defence/Inspector General of Police National Archery Championship, which will serve as a platform to showcase the country’s top archers.

Additionally, the Icon Archery Club of Abuja was officially launched, further expanding the network of Archery clubs across Nigeria.

Since 2017, NAF has established 19 recognised state Archery associations, including those in Lagos, FCT, Kogi, Kaduna, Oyo, Osun, and Delta, among others.

Several clubs affiliated with security agencies, such as the Nigeria Police Archery Club, Defence Archery Club, and Nigeria Navy Archery Club, continue to contribute to the sport’s development.

As the AGM concluded, Abdullahi reiterated the Federation’s commitment to making Archery a dominant sport in Nigeria and urged all stakeholders to support its growth at both national and international levels.
