Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA in Katsina have successfully neutralized two notorious bandit leaders, Yusuf Gwamna and Malam Ashiru, in a major counterterrorism operation in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out late Friday night, was led by a joint security task force comprising the Military, Police and other security agencies.
Acting on credible intelligence, the forces ambushed the bandits at a strategic location, engaging them in a fierce gun battle that resulted in the deaths of several criminals.
A security source confirmed to Zagazola Makama that Yusuf Gwamna and Malam Ashiru were key figures behind multiple deadly attacks in Dutsin-Ma, Danmusa, and Matazu LGAs.
They were reportedly responsible for a series of kidnappings, cattle rustling, and armed robberies that had terrorized communities in the region.
“This operation is a major breakthrough in our efforts annihilate bandits operating in Katsina State.
“These bandits had been on our watchlist for a long time, and their elimination will significantly degrade their group’s operational capacity,” the source told Zagazola Makama.
The security forces are continuing clearance operations in the area, searching for fleeing bandits and securing local communities.
