The River State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has invited members of the state House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, to a meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday, March 10th, 2025.
Recall, the state has been embroiled in a lingering leadership crisis between the Governor and the immediate past governor and Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
The crisis led 27 lawmakers loyal to Wike to defect to the All Progressives Congress, following which the court declared their seats vacant.
Only recently, a Supreme Court judgment returned the sacked lawmakers to their seats, leading to tension in the state, with restive groups and others warning of dire consequences should the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, be impeached by them.
