The Nasarawa State Government at weekend says it has concluded an arrangement to establish a centralised database for all information relating to land matters in the state.
Honourable Umaru Tanko Tunga, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, made the disclosure during a Press Briefing in Lafia, the State capital.
He noted that the aim of setting up the computerised database was to ensure adequate protection of lands belonging to all residents of the state.
Honourable Tanko-Tunga, who was recently sworn into office by Governor Abdullahi Sule to head the ministry, added that the initiative aims to drive effective urban development in the state.
While rolling out his three action plans for the ministry which include Digital Transformation, Accelerated Urban Development and Public-Private Partnership, the Commissioner directed the departmental heads at the ministry to submit innovative ideas within a week for better implementation of the digitisation framework.
According, “Technology is critical to eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks and improving service delivery.
“So, Digital Transformation focuses on modernising the ministry’s operations through full computerisation. This includes digitising land records, automating approval processes, and establishing a centralised database to improve service delivery.
“Accelerated Urban Development is aimed at speeding up urban development through sectoral plans for specific areas, starting with the Lafia eastern bypass corridor. This approach will ensure orderly development and enhance livability for residents.
“Also, Public-Private Partnership is very important in driving urban development and improving service delivery. So, we are going to have such collaborations in order to serve the people of Nasarawa State better.”
He however appealed for maximum support from all the staff of the ministry and the entire residents of the state to enable him deliver on his mandate.
On his part, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Khalid Adamu pledged to support the commissioner’s vision of ensuring better land administration in the state.
The permanent further affirmed that with the action plans rolled out by the Commissioner, he is committed to bringing about positive change in Nasarawa State’s urban development landscape.
