Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola secretly traveled to Barcelona last week in a last-ditch effort to salvage his marriage with wife Cristina Serra, despite their announced plans to divorce in January.
Sources close to the couple revealed that Guardiola, 54, flew to Spain just hours after leading City to a 3-1 FA Cup victory against Plymouth last Saturday. With a week-long gap before their next Premier League fixture, the football boss took advantage of the break to reunite with Cristina, 52, at their family home.
“They spent three nights together in Barcelona,” a source disclosed. “On Monday, Pep went to a dental appointment while Cristina attended to her fashion business in the city. Later that day, they met at her shop and spent three hours together before returning home to spend the evening together.”
Guardiola departed for Manchester on Tuesday morning, but the visit has raised hopes that the couple may reconcile after drifting apart in recent years. Cristina moved back to Barcelona in 2019, reportedly creating distance in their relationship.
The football world remains curious about Guardiola’s personal life as he continues to lead Manchester City through another competitive season. The club has not issued an official statement regarding his trip.
