There was uncertainty on Friday morning over the health of former presidential spokesperson, Dr Doyin Okupe as he has been feared dead.
Sources close to the family said Okupe who served as a senior adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan and later as the Director-General of Peter Obi’s 2023 Presidential Campaign was in a critical condition.
According to one of the sources, Okupe has been critically ill for a few weeks before having a surgery in an undisclosed hospital.
As of the time of filing this report, his family had yet to confirm or deny rumours of his death.
However, Okupe’s political associates, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he had passed away.
In December 2022, he stepped down from Obi’s campaign after a money laundering conviction.
He later resigned from the Labour Party after the 2023 general elections.
Details surrounding his death remain unclear as of press time.
