Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, has secured the release of his elder brother, Jude Okoye, by standing as surety and staking one of his properties in Ikoyi, Lagos.
This move came after Jude was remanded in the Ikoyi Correctional Facility on February 26, 2025, following his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on charges of money laundering involving N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.
Jude Okoye, the former manager of the defunct P-Square duo and older brother to Paul and Peter Okoye, pleaded not guilty to all charges during his initial court appearance.
The court then adjourned for a bail hearing on February 28, 2025.
During the bail hearing, Paul Okoye appeared before the court with the documents for one of his properties in Ikoyi, which he offered as collateral to secure his brother’s release.
“My Lord, I have here with me documents of one of my properties situated in Ikoyi, valued at several billions of naira, and I’m willing to drop it with the court, but please release my brother to me on bail today,” Rudeboy told the court.
Speaking outside the courtroom, Paul Okoye expressed his frustration with his twin brother Peter, claiming that Peter was the one responsible for Jude’s legal troubles.
He said, “It’s Peter that is doing this. He’s putting him in prison, and I’m here to bring him out.”
Jude Okoye is facing trial alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd, on a seven-count charge.
The EFCC launched the investigation into Jude following a petition by Peter Okoye, who accused his elder brother of operating a “secret company” and allegedly misappropriating P-Square’s royalties. Peter’s petition led to the EFCC’s investigation, which ultimately culminated in Jude’s arraignment.
After Jude’s remand, Paul Okoye took to his Instagram story to share a cryptic message, widely believed to be directed at his twin brother.
“Exactly what he wants. This too, shall pass. Stay strong, brother,” he wrote.
As the case continues, Paul Okoye’s actions have sparked significant attention, with many questioning the ongoing family feud that has escalated into legal challenges.
However, with Jude now granted bail, it remains to be seen how this legal battle will unfold.
