The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday announced the timetable for the conduct of elections in the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A post on the commission’s official X handle stated that INEC would also supervise the conduct of political party primary elections expected to take place in June 2025.
According to the post, the area council elections are scheduled for Saturday, 21 February 2026, at 8:30am.
INEC pointed out that only eligible voters whose names appear on voters register and have valid voters cards would be allowed to vote at polling units where they are registered.
It further revealed that the commission would deploy the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for the exercise, as it warned that voters without their PVC will not be allowed to vote.
