Olatunji makes goal history in Sparta Prague’s 3-0 Mol Cup Win

Date:

Nigerian striker Victor Olatunji continued his impressive form with Sparta Prague, coming off the bench to score in a 3-0 victory over Dukla in the Mol Cup round of 16 on Tuesday.

His goal, which came just two minutes from stoppage time, secured the win for his side after goals from Albion Rrahmani and Patrik Vydra had already put Sparta Prague in a commanding lead.

With this goal, Olatunji has now reached 11 goals for the season, surpassing his previous best of 10 goals in 39 games during the 2022/23 season.

This marks a significant milestone in his career in Europe since joining in 2017.

Olatunji’s recent form places him among notable Nigerian strikers such as Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, and Gift Orban, drawing attention to his potential for a call-up to the Super Eagles.

His consistent performances have led to speculation about his inclusion in Nigeria’s squad for the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe next month.

A source informed Lapalabras.com, “He’s one of the strikers the coach (Eric Chelle) has considered.”

“Despite competition from established strikers like Taiwo Awoniyi, Victor Boniface, and Paul Onuachu, Olatunji’s double-figure goal tally this season has kept him in the conversation for a Super Eagles spot.

Sparta Prague, currently third in the Czech First League with 49 points from 23 games, will hope Olatunji can continue his goal-scoring run when they travel to face Sigma on Saturday.

As Olatunji’s form remains strong, fans and analysts believe a Super Eagles call-up could be on the horizon if he maintains his momentum.
