Manchester United have made Napoli striker Victor Osimhen their top priority for the summer transfer window, with the club keen to secure a proven goalscorer.
Despite interest from Chelsea in alternative target Viktor Gyokeres, Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim and his recruitment team are determined to focus on the Nigeria international, GIVEMESPORT sources reveal.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has impressed with his performances and is expected to be available for a permanent move this summer.
United are confident that a £63m deal can be struck if Osimhen is willing to lower his salary expectations, as he currently earns over £250,000 per week.
The club aims to fit him within its wage structure while offering a substantial transfer fee.
While the deal for Osimhen remains the priority, Amorim is also considering Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap as a potential backup option should the Osimhen move falter.
Delap, who has been performing well in the Championship, fits the age profile United are targeting for future attacking reinforcements.
Manchester United’s focus on strengthening their forward line comes after a challenging season, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to lead the club to European qualification.
The arrival of Osimhen could provide the Red Devils with the firepower needed to regain their place at the top of English football.
