FG Moves To Industrialise Nigeria, Inaugurates IRWG

Date:

The federal government has moved to revive the country`s industries and to ensure rapid industralisation and economic growth.

The government on Thursday in Abuja expressed concerns that the country is importing more than it is producing, standing the risk of been turned into a dumping ground for foreign manufactured goods.

Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator John Owan Enoh, said this in an address at the inauguration of the Industrial Revolution Work Group (IRWG), at the Bank of Industry (BOI) in Abuja.

He said this will shore up the country’s balance of trade, GDP, create jobs, among others.

The Minister who stressed the importance of doing things differently, added that Nigerians were tired of successive administrations enacting “beautiful” policies with nothing to show for it.

He explained that the IRWG “is more than initiative – it is a clarion call to action, a bold commitment to reshaping our nation`s economic destiny.

“History has shown us thatt no country attains sustainable prosperity without a robust and competitive industrial base. The great economic powerhouse of today – Germany, China, South Korea – owe their success to strategic industralisation.

Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural resources, a dynmamic youth population, and an enterprising spirit, is uniquely positioned to chart its own path to industrial greatness.”
