“I Overreacted” – Davido Apologises to Osun CP

Date:

Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, Davido has publicly apologised to the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Umar Abba, following his recent outburst over the political crisis in the state.

The music star had earlier slammed the commissioner, accusing him of failing to uphold the rule of law and warning him not to “try” him. However, in a statement posted on X, Davido admitted that his emotions got the better of him due to the tragic loss of lives during the crisis.

“In memory of the innocent souls lost, human emotions overwhelmed me and many of my friends around. We did not know the Commissioner of Police had been having sleepless nights alongside other commanders. At this point, the contributions of the police commissioner were not fully appreciated by me,” Davido wrote.

He further acknowledged the efforts of the Osun State Police Command in maintaining peace and commended the security agencies for their commitment to law and order.

“The needless killings angered me so deeply that I thought such should have been nipped in the bud. Yet, I can see that the security agencies led by the Commissioner of Police put in their best and deserve commendation,” he added.

Davido’s initial outburst had drawn significant public attention, with mixed reactions from fans and political observers. His apology signals an attempt to mend fences with the law enforcement authorities amid ongoing political tensions in Osun State.
