7 The House of Representatives Committee on Renewable Energy has said it is rescheduling the inaugural National Legislative Summit and Expo on Renewable Energy.
Originally set to take place from February 24-27, 2025, at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, the event will now be held on May 5-6, 2025.
The two-day summit, themed ‘Renew Nigeria: Unlocking Opportunities,’ aims to promote sustainable growth in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector and foster development in the industry.
The event will be hosted by the Committee in collaboration with the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In a statement signed and issued on Sunday by Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, Chairman, House Committee on Renewable Energy, Ogene announced that the event has been rescheduled following consultations between the Committee on Renewable Energy and the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
He said, “The decision to reschedule was made to allow the House to expand the scope of the summit and accommodate the numerous stakeholders who have expressed interest in participating.
“Hon. Ogene further emphasized that the concerns of key stakeholders regarding the initial February date were carefully considered.
The Committee deeply regrets any inconvenience caused by this change and appreciates the understanding of those affected.”
The upcoming event will bring together key stakeholders, industry experts, and thought leaders for high-level discussions, in-depth assessments of the industry, and the identification of actionable priorities drawn from the renewable energy provisions outlined in the Electricity Act of 2023.
Hon. Ogene highlighted, “Renewable energy is the future, and the government is committed to making significant investments to promote sustainable energy.
This strategic focus is designed to encourage Nigerians to embrace renewable energy solutions, tackle the country’s ongoing electricity supply issues, and enhance national energy security.”

In a historic move, the Speaker established the Committee on Renewable Energy to lead policy initiatives, monitor progress, and foster developments that attract investment and support the growth of renewable energy technologies in Nigeria.
This summit serves as a vital part of this strategy, aimed at driving innovation and advancing the sector.”
He stated, “The House has made a significant stride in promoting sustainability by adopting a resolution that mandates government ministries, agencies, departments, and institutions to transition to renewable energy sources for their power requirements.”
