Customs Dismantles Illegal Arms Trade with Massive Seizure in Lagos

Date:

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it will hand over a large cache of smuggled arms and ammunition to the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) in Lagos.

While the exact number and value of the seized items have not yet been disclosed, the dangerous weapons were intercepted by NCS officers as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal arms trafficking in the country.

Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has arrived in Lagos to oversee the handover and address journalists at the Federal Operation Unit (FOU) Zone “A” in Ikeja.

The interception of these illicit arms highlights the critical role the Nigeria Customs Service plays in safeguarding national security and preventing the flow of illegal weapons into the country.

The NCS has continued to strengthen its operations in a bid to curb smuggling and reduce the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, which pose a significant threat to public safety.

The Customs Service remains committed to ensuring the protection of Nigeria’s borders and collaborating with relevant agencies to combat illegal arms trade.
