Presidency Partners Sports Africa Investment Summit to Boost Grassroots Sports Development

Date:

In a historic move, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports, led by Prince Adeboye, has announced a strategic partnership with the Sports Africa Investment Summit to enhance mass participation in grassroots sports across Nigeria.

Adeboye, alongside other leading figures in the sports industry, will share actionable insights on creating a sustainable and inclusive sports sector for all.

This collaboration highlights the administration’s commitment to the future of sports, with a focus on sustainable and inclusive growth at the community level.

Prince Adeboye, appointed as the first Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports by the Nigerian Presidency, will join an esteemed panel discussion at the summit.

The session, titled “Developing a Sustainable and Inclusive Sport Sector in an Environment of Safety, Security, and Integrity,” will address critical issues such as investment in sports infrastructure, inclusivity, and community engagement.

This marks a significant milestone for Nigerian sports as grassroots initiatives have always been a vital foundation for talent discovery and long-term economic impact.

However, the sector’s continued success relies on substantial investment in infrastructure and equitable access to sports facilities.

Prince Adeboye’s participation at SAIS2025 will lay emphasis these points, particularly the role of strategic investments in creating accessible, community-centered spaces for sports.

One of the highlights of Prince Adeboye’s involvement will be a focus on the Spaces 4 Sports initiative, a flagship program under Sport Nigeria LTD.

This initiative seeks to increase the availability of shared sports facilities in communities, thereby encouraging Nigerians of all ages to actively participate in sports.

The initiative aims to foster talent development, create a robust demand for sports-related goods and services, and contribute to strengthening the overall sports economy.

“Grassroots sports represent the foundation of our nation’s sporting future.

Investing in inclusive and accessible facilities is not just about playing the game; it is about fostering talent, strengthening communities, and fueling the economic potential of sports,” Adeboye said.

“SAIS2025 provides a vital platform to drive these conversations and unlock new opportunities for grassroots sports development in Nigeria and across Africa.”

As Nigeria continues to position sports as a key driver of economic diversification, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports remains dedicated to policies that broaden access, promote greater participation, and leverage the transformative power of sports to generate widespread opportunities.

SAIS2025 will take place from February 17–18, at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
